Writing has always been a really difficult thing for me to do. At first I thought It might have been the language barrier since English is my second language, but to be honest, I couldn’t write in Spanish either.
As I struggled trying to make every sentence perfect, I realized that it became easier if I wrote things down beforehand, that helped me find my main problem which is organization. After doing the proper research and became knowledgeable enough about the subject I was writing about, I could easily fill pages with notes, insights and quotes, etc. The problem was when it was time to make sense of those notes and shape them into something was not only coherent but conveyed the message I was trying to get across. This is one of the main reasons why I started this blog, because apart from the fact that it forces me to keep a schedule, it forces me to write more often. I know that I have a really small following, but this blog is for me as much as it is for you.
In order to overcome my frustration of organizing my ideas and translate them into sentences, I started reading a lot literature and philosophy. I also started studying the language of films and design criticism. This has helped me a lot not only to improve my writing but also to improve the way I speak. People that know me can easily recognize me because of my accent and that doesn’t bother me at all. What bothers me is when I can’t find the specific words to express an idea, but I’ve gotten much better at that.
My main reason for becoming a better writer and speaker is that I have a passion for great storytelling. I’m majoring in Animation and Illustration but I also have a passion in other areas such as Film, Design, Philosophy, Music, Literature, Theater, etc. I want to be able to use everything I learn to tell great stories that captivate my audience. While the fun part is experimenting with different visual media such as comics, illustration, film, and design, the most difficult and basic part is getting the basic idea down on paper in a written format, but I’m getting better at that too.
As for my previous schedule of posting everyday at 6:00 am, this is going to have to change. Mainly because not many people, other than me, are active during that time and as result, they might miss my entries. While my concern is not to make my blog famous or popular, I would like for people to read it and offer some feedback or suggestions. My expectations for the future of this blog are that I want it to grow and evolve with me and at the same time, I want to reach people that share my same passions and have similar tastes. I’ll continue posting videos and song recommendations every other day, and I will try to post an article or review written by me hopefully on a weekly basis.
